Avada Kedavra, is widely known for its potential to insantaneously kill the opposing wizard/witch. There is no countercurse to avoid it from penetrating one, but a physical object may help. The only countercurse that may prevent it from hitting you is a sacrificial protection out of love.
The only known person to have ever survived the Avada Kedavra Spell is Harry Potter because of his mother's sacrifice to save him.
